ILN launches toolkit to support investors\u00a0decarbonize portfolios<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Investor Leadership Network<\/a>\u00a0(ILN) today released its latest\u00a0report\u00a0Climate Change Mitigation and your portfolio: Practical Tools for Investors.\u00a0<\/em>The report\u00a0provides detailed guidance\u00a0for investors\u00a0on\u00a0strengthening\u00a0climate-related disclosures, focused\u00a0on decarbonization scenarios in line with the Paris Agreement.<\/p>\n

The report\u00a0has been developed\u00a0as part of\u00a0the\u00a0ILN\u2019s\u00a0climate change<\/a>\u00a0initiative, which focuses on\u00a0developing tools and resources to help investors\u00a0understand\u00a0climate change risks and opportunities\u00a0across diversified portfolios. It\u00a0provides\u00a0information\u00a0to support investors in evaluating\u00a0the maturity of\u00a0companies\u2019\u00a0decarbonization scenario analysis\u00a0and how it aligns\u00a0with the Paris Agreement and a pathway\u00a0to\u00a0limiting the increase in average global temperature to\u00a01.5\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

As investors work to improve their\u00a0climate change\u00a0risk analysis, there is a need for a credible, consistent\u00a0fact-base.\u00a0The ILN recognizes that climate scenario analysis is a relatively recent practice and that it is\u00a0challenging. The new report aims to\u00a0address some of these\u00a0challenges\u00a0and\u00a0offers a structured approach for investors to evaluate the scenario analysis disclosures of\u00a0companies.<\/p>\n

In addition,\u00a0this guidance provides a sector-level\u00a01.5\u00b0C\u00a0scenarios across\u00a0ten sectors including Oil & Gas, Mining, Food and Agriculture, and Transportation.<\/p>\n

Amy Hepburn, CEO of the ILN Secretariat,\u00a0commented:\u00a0\u201cCreating an ecosystem of stronger climate-related disclosures and recognition\u00a0of\u00a0climate risk requires close collaboration between investors, companies across sectors, and regulators. As institutional investors managing over US$5 trillion in assets around the world, ILN members are committed to supporting the ongoing efforts of investors and companies in their goal to\u00a0fight\u00a0climate\u00a0change.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The ILN hopes to increase the maturity and standardization of the climate data landscape, drive more effective climate-related engagement between companies and investors, and ultimately improve climate resiliency.\u00a0The ILN believes\u00a0that investors can lead our economy and society towards better understanding and management of climate risk, enabling action on climate change, and that enhanced disclosure will enable the investment industry to accelerate recognition of climate risks, and the transition towards a more sustainable economy.<\/p>\n
