About Richard Godfrey

Chief Operating Officer, M&G Asset Management

Richard Godfrey joined M&G Investments in July 2023 as Chief Operating Officer (COO).

He leads all investment management operational functions and technology, collaborating extensively with Investments, Product and Distribution teams across the business. Richard is a member of M&G Investments’ Executive Committee.

With extensive operational experience across financial services, Richard joined M&G from HSBC where his most recent role was Global Co-Head of their Securities Services and Securities Financing businesses that serve many of the world’s leading public and private financial institutions. He held a series of leadership roles across HSBC since starting with the bank in 2004, including Global COO of Securities Services. Before this Richard held roles at Mellon, including as Chief Executive Officer of its investment servicing business in Europe, and Robert Fleming, in senior investment management and insurance operations roles.

Richard is a qualified Chartered Insurer and a graduate of Wharton’s Advanced Management Program.
